Using Water Slide Decals on Black Pedals / Alternative Decal Methods???

I paint all my pedals white. That way I can easily apply any artwork/graphics I want with water slide decal paper.

However, I sometimes paint pedals matt black now. Recently someone asked me to build them a matt black one, and they wanted this orange writing on it. I tried it, but obviously since water slide decal paper is clear, the orange writing was translucent and appeared invisible over the black pedal. I was just wondering if anyone out there had any other methods of applying graphics to black pedals? Keep in mind, I only have a normal inkjet printer.

Many thanks!

Steve.

Not too many options with a transparent decal. You can try one trick, but it may be a bit hard with small letters.

You can modify this method a little bit - do not print outlines of the letters graphics, but print full color (orange) and then paint underneath the letter with white.

You can also use white decal/paper and print it black/orange.

I usually hate recommending something, (because your mileage may vary?)... but, I've had good luck with this white decal paper:

Paint the top white and print out a black and orange decal that will cover all the white.
or
Print the black orange top to another opaque medium and stick that to the top.

If you can afford it, check out the OKI PRO7411WT or you can use 2 printers to get this done.
