Help needed. Why some fx sounds so different.

Hi!
I have build a Color Sound - Overdriver & Black Arts Toneworks - Pharaoh Fuzz clone and tested them at home with a Orange Crush35, they sounded good. Then i tested them with my Orange Rockerverb 50 head and they sounded like crap. Why is that?
is it just because the other one is a tubeamp and the other a transistor?

Tubes vs transistors.  Different circuits.  Different speakers.  Different cabinets.  Different rooms.  Different guitars?

Different states of mind!  Some days I plug in to my same old setup and everything sounds like crap to me.  Those days I just unplug and go do something else.
