Hello,

Does anyone have a schematic or info on how the edge switch is wired in an EHX Red and Black Clone Theory with the MN3005 chip? I looked all over the internet but I cant seem to find a schematic or pictures that are clear enough to zoom in to the switch.

Thanks,

Ryan

I have about 8 or so schematics for the Clone Theory, albeit without any indication of the chassis colour scheme.  They either use an SAD1024 or an MN3007.  None use an MN3005 (which would be overkill for the delay range used for a chorus).

The only thing I found that included an "edge" switch used a 1k1 resistor and 100nf or 150nf cap to ground.  Basically, it is an additional lowpass filter added in parallel to the 33nf cap to ground on the output.

Could you send me the schematic with the edge switch?

Thanks

Scruffie

I have seen a 'transition' unit which used the Vibra-Flange circuit but still had the enclosure with the 'Edge' labelling, I suspect that's the case here as I don't think there was a redesigned MN3007 version which kept the Edge switch.

You can use the schematic from here, I traced it from a vintage unit, sans the charge pump, regulator (a zener was used in the original) R/C power filters and output transistor boost and the parallel 390pF & 22pF caps are just a single 412pF cap in the original http://lectric-fx.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/CelesteChorus_V1.2.pdf

there was a variant with the edge switch that wasn't the red and black one. the edge switch ones are hissy as hell, and scruff's version is the one with the chorvib/flangevib switch.

the red and black ones used a sad1024 in some, or maybe a 512. i forget, the vibra flange switched ones sound better imho, and the mn3007 variant is the one to go with

yeah, like these suckers needed MORE hiss. i think MM just added that as an afterthought really, to nuke the hiss or not to nuke the hiss... that is the question... lol

been a while since i did one of these. i gave the original one i built to "analog" tom the last day i worked there. ooops. ;)

The colour isn't the best marker of what's inside, I've seen red and black ones with both the edge switch and the chorvib switch, EHX switched up colours sometimes, I had a purple memory man for a bit.

The 3 variations I've seen are the Edge version with SAD1024, the Early Chorvib switch versions which still had the 'Edge' label but used an MN3007 and then just the Chorvib switch version with MN3007.

This must be the early chor/vibe switched version with the edge label because it has the MN3007 and a dpdt switch.
