Talk about a Klon Clone

Wow this is a pretty accurate clone of the Klon! At least as far as the enclosure goes. The PCB also looks like the original. Funny that it's $300 from China! I feel I can get a cheaper version in the US!

The enclosure detail is a little surprising, at first glance it appears authentic...

I'm still waiting to read about some fool that blows 3 grand on one, thinking he/she bought an original. It's gonna happen one day. It's the P.T. Barnum rule.

Second and third glance too Maybe it's just because I've never seen an original in person, but that's a damn good Klone.

EDIT: Hang on, is the centaur's beard wrong? The beard looks a little different, could just be the angle.

The pcb and the box look like the originals. I wonder if the original might have had the manufactured in China at this factory.

Or they saw prices and decided an accurate original was a viable product. In this case they missed the boat since the available clones have been really good or better for a few years now.

The idea that someone is making counterfeits is a little disturbing.

they are complete counterfeits. the box you can buy on aliexpress alone for too much money.

the kit is sold by protaitone, its like 40 bux shipped. if ya want the enclosure, its around a c-note if memory serves.

no goop. but the circuit sounds fine. its a sagitarian charger like baja came up with years ago over on fsb

some idiot will no doubt pay that much for them, dino!!! lol

heres the thing... 300? no @#$%in way. the kit for 40 is ok, cuz all the stuff is in there, but the build doc is abysmal.

better to go with other vendors. i DID buy and build one <yes, i AM that lazy sometimes> and it sounded great, like every other one i'd built.

to me? the klon circuit just don't do it.

that said, we gonna get in trouble for discussing a klon clone? i though aron forbade bill's pedal being discussed here, wasn't that what led to FSB?

and yes, it appears they are sand casting custom enclosures to mimic the klon, and the graphics are close, but not right. the klon's sides are more sloped too, unless they came up with a better one since the last time i surfed ali

"Disturbing"? How so? Given the price that they fetch, I'd have thought "inevitable" was a better choice of word. What is there that's valuable that isn't faked somewhere by someone else for less money?!? If it's worth doing for BBDs or CA3080s then the Klon is a dead cert.

Thanks Nat. I actually didn't know that. Then again, I never read the warning, I just signed on and went with the flow. That's quite respectable, amoung one of the many reasons why I love this forum.
