Anyone tried the DSO 138 / DSO150 oscilloscopes?

The DSO 150 (assembled) is going for about $25 at banggood. com.  Wondering if it was worth the bother.

Btw, the porn references (inferences?) about banggood were already made in a previous  pinkjimi thread (about the DSO 138 no less).

I have a DSO138 oscilloscope. The only things I can tell - since I don't know how to use an oscilloscope - are it's compact, well built and it works. Looks like an usefull thing for it's price.

I built a DSO150 from a kit (US $20 from banggood). The kit had the SMD pre-assembled so I just had to do the through-hole soldering and assembly. The build instructions were very good. I would recommend it if you are at all interested in oscilloscopes or looking at time varying signals. I've already used it a few times for debugging and will use it more when I do some synthesizer stuff. Make sure you get one from an authorized seller of Jye-Tech - banggood is fine - as there are knockoffs. I detailed my build, with photos, in a thread on the madbeanpedals forum.

One needs to think a little to use an oscilloscope effectively, e.g. understanding how it triggers, but it is an incredible tool.  Naturally, once you build one, you'll think of ways you could use a dual channel scope, but even the little DSO150 is a stunning value.

I built a DSO 138 from a kit where I had to solder the SMD.  That was a bit scary, but it worked out very well after a bit of troubleshooting.  I also got a cool acrylic case to house it in.  For the price it is just amazing

Got mine assembled with an acrylic case. Well, the acrylic case broke after my cat dropped the oscilloscope on the ground.

Are there any guides on using an oscilloscope for pedal building/troubleshooting/measuring things that usually doesn't need to be measured but looks cool on a oscilloscope?

I have a 150. Worth every penny to me.  I use it, not for its accuracy ( which I just don't care about- and not that it is), but as a way to view what is going on at particular points.  Is the oscillator oscillating?  Is my guitar signal reaching this point?  Sort of an advanced audio probe.  I use it all the time for that.

That said, it is a bit annoying.  It seems to be slightly noisy at a low level that doesn't really affect its practical use.  And I have yet to get comfortable with what the display is actually doing at any point.

This is not a real high precision o scope, but it is a great tool for diy within its limitations.  As I said, I use mine constantly, and it HAS allowed me to troubleshoot more than one problem that just would not have been done with just a DMM. Get one.

I ordered one. Didn't specify if the probes were included so I bought those as well.  Free shipping (7-25 days).  The deal lasts until Aug 10th I thnk if anyone is interested. The deal may be an Android thing because the discount didn't appear when I was checking it out on my pc.

As for knock-offs, I checked Amazon for price comparison and there are a boatload of versions listed.
