Hey there

Im preparing to mod and rehouse my Boss DD3. The mods will be installed using on-off-on switches so each have 2 options.

Im adding the hi-cut mod (attached the level pot) and the analog mod, loft mod and momentary switch all attached to the feedback pot. I've scoured the forums and have all the info that i need with regards tot these mods individually.

The question i have is can multiple mods be connected to the feedback pot? should the switches all go directly to the lugs or should they be 'bridged'?? I've attached a diagram of the two different wiring options I'm considering.

Any finally, can they all be engaged at the same time ?

Cheers
Tom

Both diagrams represent the same circuit electrically, you could choose whichever was easier. I think maybe the second one is better as it means fewer connections need to be made to the FB pot.

Multiple mods on the same pot will work fine because they operate in parallel across a common pair of lugs. You might see something similar on an overdrive pedal where a "clipping" switch selects between two different pairs of diodes, whilst a "mellow/bright" switch selects between different value caps: These two switches might share a common position across the inverting input and output of an opamp, or between output and ground.

Brilliant.. thanks for all that info!!

One last thing, do you have any info on how to swap a boss footswitch for a regular latching 3dpt footswitch?

cheers!

Not sure I could advise on that - Requires some severe butchery of both enclosure and circuitry for not much discernible improvement.

Hi Tome,  the Boss switching has been gone over, I'm sure you can imagine.  Here is some info about how it's done: http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/bosstech.pdf

Like Nocentelli said, modding that would be butcherous!  There's no room in there to just start wiring in the big 3PDT.  Boss pedals are buffered when 'off', anyway, so they're pretty transparent.  I'd only consider adding a 3PDT if I was re-housing the thing, just my 2 cents.
