Anyone out there modded a DOD DFX9?

In one of my many spontaneous bouts of buying cool looking/random older pedals, I've gotten my hands on a DOD DFX9.

Straight off the bat, it'd benefit from a new footswitch and ins/outs as well as a 2.5 to 2.1mm conversion - anyone done any of the above firstly? I reckon I can easily deal with the power conversion (did it on my Rat recently), but would I struggle with the size of 3PDT?

And more fun stuff - I've already altered the internal trimpots, but has anyone got any decent mods they've done? There's not a whole lot online I've seen about it, but they were intended as Boss DD3-beaters/competition.

Anyone had any luck modding these?

Hey, i hace one of these too. One thing I did before I started building pedals was to play with the internal trimmers. One of the me allowed the time range to be extended, I believe it was the bias trimmer. This will definitely benefit from a new footswitch.
I do wonder if modulation could be added by tying it to the time control also.

Following to see if there's anything else that can be done with this.

Glad I'm not the only one keen to look at what can be done with it! It feels like there's potential for similar mods to the DD3 - analog mod etc.

I might have a go at it myself if I can get my head around it as it feels like it'd be great to get to understanding if changing any of the chips in there might make a major change in things. I'd prefer not to kill it as it's cool, but it only cost me £10!

I had a bit of hunt for schematics, but didn't find much. Some other similar DOD stuff from the same era uses 4164 or 41256 DRAM chips for the delay memory and a ton of logic to do the addressing (that's a single bit memory! Ouch!)

Can you take a photo of the guts so we can see what chips it's got in please? I'm all curious now...;)

Peasey,

All I can think of are the typical mods people do on the DD-3.

Lots of examples on the site.

I'm in the midst of mod'n my DD-3.

Sorry for the epic delay (oh the irony)

Been busy with work and other life BS. Here's a gut shot;

Umm, bit more modern than some of schematics I saw. That's got Texas 4558 op-amps and a NE570 commander for the analog side, and a TMS4256 256KBit DRAM chip for the memory. The big square thing in the middle is presumably some kind of gate array that deals with all the glue logic - the memory addressing and read/write (must be a bitch with a 1-bit memory) and the refreshing (this is a DRAM). The schematics I saw had most of that logic done with 74-series chips.
A lot of SIP resistor arrays too. I expect some of them are a cheap DAC (R-2R ladder style thing), but the others look to be just to save space.

Sorry, nothing really inspiring to mess with in there.

Cheers for the response, ElectricDruid!

I was half hoping to get an analog mod going or even better, find some fun stuff to mess with the infinite mode but never mind eh.
