Tracing out the Spacemen Nebula, I came across these beasties on the backside of the babyboard...

The lower left legs are not connected to anything. If that helps any. :icon_rolleyes:

What in the heck is this???

ZXCT1041 bidirectional precision high-side current monitor?? (A relatively uninformed guess based on some Googling).  Are there rechargeable batteries involved?

I concur... that's all I could find matching as well
You've got to love obsolete technology.....

Thanks guys! :icon_biggrin:

Seems to fit the bill. It's for the Spaceman Nebula octave fuzz. What they're doing? No idea. I suppose it'll be clearer once I get the schematic drawn out.

Glad to see you back at it Dino my man!

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

Hey Dino!

What are those SMD parts directly connected to? An LED? A resistor?

Looks like full-wave rectifier, so could very well be the source of the octave.

Thank you brother. I seem to have picked a mutherfooker for my first trace back. :icon_lol:

I think they're part of the octave circuit, but I can't say for sure yet. I only have the prelim trace done, which needs to be converted to a schematic. Here's what I have for the moment...

That's what I was thinking. Probing the pins used with the diode tester, I do get readings somewhat like a rectifier.

I concur with jubal... looks like those are your rectifiers  8)

Could they be power MOSFETS, with extra pins primarily for thermal reasons?

Why two, if one can do full wave?

This is what I've come up with...

Definitely a new twist (component-wise) on octave generation.

That's great. Let us know when you have tested and verified it. I'm definitely interested.

what's the ONION for at upper right?   ;)

Flavour? :) (I think  it might +1/+2 octave switch?)

digi2t

Type of switch... ON / ON. :icon_mrgreen:

Geez guys... I actually spent about a minute looking for "ONION"!! Not nice.  :icon_lol:

That's the fuzz gain switch. Fuzz, or MORE FUZZ.
