Smallest knob for 1/4 pot possible?

Hey,

I'm building something with a ton of knobs and have run very low on surface space. Im using mini pots so, I was wondering, what is the absolute smallest knob for a 1/4 shafts pot available?

Are the pots solid shaft? If so, you don't really need a knob.  You could use a piece of heat shrink tubing though if you need a little more grip.
If you need position markers you will need to get a bit more inventive.

They're only slightly bigger than the 1/4" pot shaft (7.7mm) and available at Thonk in the UK.  Dunno if you'll find them elsewhere.

Ah my pots are not the solid shafts type. Those micro knob are awesome! Would you happen to know of any ebay listing for something like that? So much space to save with those!

I think I've seen them somewhere on aliexpress. Searching...  6mm shaft only.

I expect 1/2" is about as small a knob as you can fondle when you have your space suit gloves on.

The micro knobs look useful. Marc, have you seen them in the flesh - they seem very cheap?

A friend of mine makes pedals just for himself and uses trim pots glued inside the enclosure with little holes for a screwdriver to adjust them. They make the build look very clean, but changing the settings is a bit of a fiddley job. He even has a special screwdriver clip on his pedal board. He's severely autistic so doing things the hard way is kinda his style of doing things I don't recommend it tho.
I tried searching for a picture but couldn't find it.

@Sam: yep, I've got a few of them.  I think I've used one or two already, but will need to find my stash of built Eurorack (it's similar to my pedal stash...) and remind myself.    They're pretty much a semi-rigid condom for the pot shaft.  (Stop sniggering at the back!)

OK, thanks. Not much scope to wobble or rotate off centre, so will add those to the 'must get round to ordering at some stage' list.

Some mini 9mm pots have shafts that are the knobs - as used in Korg Monotrony things. They rely on pcb mounting though. I've never seen them with nut bushings for panel mount, although I can't see why that couldn't be done.
For real cheap, you can get trim pots with little knobs, but you won't find log and the knobs fall off easily.

This topic is a bloody minefield!

Some brands carry them.. they are shaft that you can push into trimpots. No more need for the screwdriver

Some mini 9mm pots have shafts that are the knobs - as used in Korg Monotrony things.
