It would help if you could tell us what you want to use it for.  I can't find a K30AY11.

" K30AY11" may be what is printed on a part. I think the K30A is short for 2SK30A. the Y11 may indicate quality/selection/plant/date codes.
It's highly likely any 2SK30A will substitute, although if it's one of several in a phaser delay, all of those FET's should be of fairly well matched characteristics.

sorry.i want to use it in a BOSS sd-1 pedal.the original K30A is toast....

The 2sk30a jfefs in the stock Boss sd1 are part of the switching... I think there at many jfets you could use as replacement..

Jim is right.  K30A is short for 2SK30A.  Y is for "Yellow" Idss range (1.2~3.0 mA).  11 is date/facility/whatever code that means nothing to us.

cool....I thank you guys for the education and like I said,i am new to this so I hope to continue to learn from you guys !!! :)

Yeah, All of the above.

As a note - Many of the older Japenese pedals like Boss etc use transistors and fet that have the first 1 or 2 letters of the marking dropped.

Examples
2SK30A = K30A
2SK117 =K117
2SC1815 =C1815
BC548 = C548
etc.

This is not always the case of course but as a general rule you can use this as a guide and check datasheets if need be to make sure.

I have used 2N3819 for the 2SK30A in the past with no problems. so you could probably use those. The bias control should allow for any differences.

You can get the 2SK208-Y at mouser, digikey for $0.50 qty:1 or $0.30 qty: 10. Electrically they are identical with the same R, O, Y, GR idss classifications. The 2SK30A in the TO-92 through hole package are gonna be harder to find unless you get them from amazon or ebay.. And it becomes even more of a challenge to find them with the idss classifications you are looking for...

If you don't mind SMD then you can always get these and creatively solder them in place of the through hole parts.

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad
