Adhessive for LED?

The pedal kit I'm finishing has a red LED that sits loose in the little (2 mm or so) hollow threaded tube housing with jam nut on the back.

I might want to change the color so don't want something permanent and thought regular white glue would work.

Can you show us what this looks like?  Does it mount directly on the PCB?  Is the PCB secured by pots?  Perhaps a tiny spot of super/crazy glue is all you need.

White glue might work, but is thin and runny.  What I would do, would be to apply just a small dab of clear silicone glue on the LED to hold it in place.  Even when set, silicone glue (RTV) stays somewhat soft, and can be cut/scraped away.  Don't go crazy with it if you want to remove the part later.

Hot glue. Easy to take off later.

Sounds like there is a mismatch between the LED diameter and the LED expected by the bezel.

That would be a case of inbezzlement, no?

No, its the right size.

The leads on it are pretty long (~1.5") with a 3-4" wire on each.

The PCB sits on its own away from the pots and switch.

Didn't want to use crazy glue as it would make swapping LED harder.  Ended up using white glue.  If I want to take the LED out I can unscrew the fitting and use some hot water to dissolve it.

In the future I would second the hot glue suggestion. Silicone works great for certain things and can be removed easily, but hot glue has a much better tack and strength.

Once i learned that hot glue can be released with isopropyl alcohol i began using it much more (try it, it's impressive). I think most major manufacturers would use hot glue in this application as well.

I would have a small piece of board like Veroboard or something else that the leads stick through and use duct tape or gorilla tape to hold it against the enclosure.  This allows for easy replacement.
