Hello,

I wanted to buy a Bill Lawrence Q filter, but they just hiked up the price of this tiny coil from 24$ to 34+, and plus 9$ shipping. 43$ for a small inductor is crazy isn't it?

Anyway I was reading this.

I have been playing around with all the Mouser Xicon inductors. I have about 11 different ones. They have varying inductances, but have a higher resistance.

What is unique about the Q filter is that is has a very low resistance, so apparently, that makes the filter's Q resonance sharper I think?

How do I wind a coil to have little resistance like the Q filter?
Is it in the gauge of the wire, the tightness of the wind.

The TL021 has a 1.5H inductance but the resistance is 148 according to this page.

The Q filter has a 1.8H, with a much smaller 49.6 ohm resistance.

Thanks

There are plenty of simulated inductance filters of high - very high - ultra high - needlepin sharp Qs..
