Ribbon cable connector confusion

Hi guys,

I've been trying to make sense of all this for years, but i always give up on anything more than basic 2.54mm motherboard-style connectors (Dupont?) because i find it so hard to learn from the documentation Molex etc. provide. Compared to other electromechanical parts, it feels like Molex and TE are trying to sell me their proprietary connectors more than inform me about them. I guess the sheer abundance of different parameters doesn't help.

Anyways, on a PCB i have 2 rows of 3 pins (6 connections), each spaced by 1.27mm, and i'd really love to have easily-assembled cables at hand for that offboard wiring. Both rows are parallel, not offset from each other.

I'm currently using a basic, non-proprietary male header on the board, which is right-angled for enclosure space reasons. I do have space on that type of the board for a wider connector (still 1.27mm), but not if it has clips through to the other side. These are actually for 1 SPST connection and 1 DPST, so splitting them up wouldn't hurt.

So can anyone recommend a standard, a series, a model number or anything to help me out here? The relevant tool would help, too. A few times i've thought the Molex Picoflex line looked perfect, but then i just got confused again because i'm just allergic to understanding what they're actually selling me.

cheers!

(i should check out their 3D models actually. it would help a lot if their PDF drawings actually had a picture from an angle.)

Hey Grant. Hope your ok. Long time no speak.
I normally go to the auction site and search header pins or headers.
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

So those pins are SMD not through-hole yes?

MrStab

hi guys, good to see you!
Rich: i used a coupla those LDRs to make an FX loop switching system on my DSL100 head, works awesome.
Merlin: I'm really curious about the noise reduction from paralleling both sides of the OTA in v3 of the Engineer's Thumb.

it's a through-hole header. i'm gonna lazily blame dyspraxia and medication tremors for not having tackled SMD yet.

it's this wee guy here, between the professionally-burnt red film cap and the obstructive electro. lol

i'm still trying to figure out dimensions etc, so the right-angle isn't essential.
