I'm kind of confused her with the DC Jack that connects to the circuitboard. Should've set an a negative open calling you I know you heard me I didn't hear yo i'm kind of confused year with the DC jack that connects to the circuitboard.  If the input power is center negative I'm getting confused with how it connects to the battery leads and the circuit board.  The way I'm saying it the positive wire of the battery snap is connecting to the center post of the DC socket.  But wouldn't that make it center positive, or am I looking at this socket in the wrong way?

The center pin of the jack is that square terminal in your drawing.

Yup.   Follow the wire from the 'square', and you can see how it goes to one jack terminal, and next to it there's a wire going to battery 'minus'.  That is how the stereo jack is used to switch the ground when a plug is inserted. Maybe that threw you?

So the circuit board "gnd" is wired to the dc jack center?

GibsonGM

Pretty much...it is wired to the "lower left square" Eric pointed out.    You can confirm this by touching the center pin of the jack with one meter probe, and the back of the DC jack with the other, meter set to 'continuity'.  It should "BEEP".

I got it! Thanks for the help.

WAIT! before you mount that socket, please test with your ohm meter, and see if either or any of the lugs connect  with the mounting nut/thread/sleeve/barrel. I think you have a metal DC jack there, and if the outer lug/shell/sleeve is connected to positive, and then mounted on a metal box, which should be grounded, your supply will be shorted.

I checked that before I mounted it.  I was surprised that I don't have any continuity between the threads and any of the tabs.

EBK

I'm wondering if that continuity situation changes once the barrel of the plug is inserted.
