Wondering if anyone has ever tried this clear coat from Krylon for coating pedals..particularly after applying decals? Its a low odor formula. Perfect for me as i live in an apartment building. However, the store said it was latex based, so not sure if it would work. I am looking to use it on pre powder coated pedals with waterslide decals on.

The only low-odor clear coat that I've tried is water-based Polycrylic.  It brushes on, is drippy and streaky as hell, and yellows ever so slightly.  I should add that I am completely cursed when it comes to clear coating pedals. No products work well for me.

Do you have access to the roof of your apartment?  Could you use the smelly stuff up there?

I hear you. Same with me when it comes to clear coating. Don't have access to the roof. I do have a balcony but should have mentioned i live in the part of the world where we have -30C for 6 months. And I believe clear coats work above 10C weather conditions.

An outdoor toaster oven can* compensate for poor climate conditions.

*But, again, not for me because I am cursed.   :icon_razz:

I used waterborne  'instrument' lacquers for  number of years, no odor, and still look good years later, clear non milky. Also tried spraying a few different brands of waterborne poly's, from the big box stores not nearly as nice in any regard. All sprayed using an airbrush set up.

The can agrees.  I would avoid it.

With Beavis back in the game... he has an article describing using brush on poly to clearcoat pedals.

Are you painting the pedals or applying the decals to a bare enclosure?
