Hi Folks,

A while back I picked up a Serpent Boost PCB. I've finally got some time to make the thing so I'm currently getting the components together.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia so in the past I've got components from either Mouser or RS. At the moment I'm leaning towards RS as they have free shipping.

The Serpent needs three pots - A500k, 1kB, 10KB. The build instructions recommend 16mm Alpha PCB mount.

I'm struggling to find these on RS - could someone help me find these or suitable alternatives.

I'm also wondering what input/output sockets people recommend? I'm following the MadBean Standard Wiring so I need a stereo in/mono out.

Cheers,

Chris

I looked RS and they really are r.s. they have no alpha like we generally use. if you follow this link, it will winnow out a lot of dross, but there is still a lot of choices to make. make SURE you get the shafts that match your knob types - splined or plain/grub/set screw/d-shaft.

mouser is expensive considering you'd pay ~US50c each at tayda, for eg.

Thanks! I might try Mouser although their postage is expensive. I've never bought anything from Tayda - maybe I'll give them a go.

Cheers!

When I built one, I bought from Tayda. Do they ship to Australia reasonably? I know they are Vietnam based, so much closer than the US. That's where I get most of my pots.

Just done my Serpent order through Tayda - had everything I needed, much cheaper and shipping was very reasonable too! I think I'll be using them in the future.

Rip - yes - tayda for pots to au. easy and cheap and best pedal quality. ask me about some their other product lines tho, and I might say otherwise. but it is all cheap and easy and quick/reliable.

if you can wait for when there is a coupon [or try the code last listed in that thread, it sometimes works out of time], the discount will generally cover the freight costs, if you've ordered enough stuff.
