Finally took a stab at this sucker. Everything checks out except that I am getting unwanted oscillation early on in the pregain control. It is most annoying when the pregain is set high for fuzz and it is bypassed and rangemaster mode is engaged. I can make it go away by lowering the pregain control (which doesn't effect the rangemaster gain. Any suggestions? The wiring is a nightmare, but if shielded might help I can give that a go. I am using russian 402 germaniums in the right gain ranges. They bias up fine.

Additionally, I will be upping the input cap, too much treble for my jazzy. I will also be retrofitting some caps on q2 and q4 to eliminate some hiss.

Very cool, neat sounding circuit that I am regretting not having built sooner. Total PITA to work on, though given the wiring and vero board approach I took. Appreciation goes out to gagan, dino and lyons for their work and additions and whatnot.

Remedied with a 330pf between C and B of Q3! Tried the resistor to ground off Q3 first, but ultimately the cap did the trick.

330pF for NFB cap is quite a big value..

Are you O.K. with gain at highs..??
