I was about to edit this thread for the fourth time based on new information I had found during my research, then I figured I would just say forget it and delete everything. I learned something new today and was proven wrong by someone with less expertise in the field than me.

Mostly that the Truetone CS7 is designed pretty much the same as my DIY power supply, meaning it has an SMPS feeding a bank of independent linear regulators. Had a miniature argument with a customer about it, I didn't think it could power a tube preamp, he assured me it could. I thought he was ignorant, turns out he was right.
