Can anyone provide clarification on how input B works on this thing? Input A/mic works great and sounds fantastic and ring moddish as expected. input B only works if I have a signal going through input A. I was not sure if that is how it supposed to work or not. I do get the oscillator and input B all the way up to the ad633 chip when only input b is plugged in but nothing comes out of the ad633. Finally, I am having a little difficulty on the step where you adjust TRIM2 to the null point. Finding the quiet point on trim 3 was no problem, but I am having difficulty discerning the "two waves." Especially since the oscillator is nulled. I ran a sine wave through it but still don't hear a huge difference when going through the multiturn (granted it takes quite a while to go from one end to the other of it.

As always, help is greatly appreciated!

It is a "ring modulator", which is a type of Multiplier.

If A=0, what is A*B? Always zero for any value of B.

And let's give a link to the site and shop:

Makes sense. Didn't consider using basic mathematical principles despite seeing the IC datasheet. Good to know! Thanks for your time and consideration, PRR. Always feel blessed to have a forum guru shed some light.

As far as the shop link and whatnot....I need to do some build reports. Some fantastic projects over there and i have built several over the last few months and bugged Dino on multiple occasions. Elected to go to the forum this time around. No disrespect meant by not including it!

Back to the matter at hand. What scenarios are favorable for running both inputs then?

Yes! I tried finding it via google with no luck. This is great. Thanks!

This definitely explains the input B. I might also add for anyone reading this that the lm13700 to ca3080 trick works here. Additionally, if you are in the market for the ad633 chip, these are reliable:

The seller was kind enough to let me know about the suffix, which on these indicate operating temperatures. The "K" series are good up to around 160 degrees F whole the N series are good up yo 180. Also, for whatever reason, the pinout on the pdip is different than their sop8.

Wanted to follow up and report that these work very well!
