DeadEndFX Meaty Balls / Meatball question

I'm building the DEFX version of Meatball for my bandmate (pcb says '2017', not sure what version)
Question for those who have built it / Dino / Phil:
The rotary switches--mount on the component side, or the solder side of the PCB?
If on the solder side, I think this makes the controls reversed from what I expect or how other projects are organized.
