Boss repair (LED doesn't light- seriously that's it)

Hey guys.  I have a Boss OD-2 that the LED won't work on.  Otherwise, the circuit passes/bypasses/affects sound as it should.

The LED itself is ok out of circuit, and a new LED in circuit doesn't work either.
Please see the schematic here: https://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/od2-turbo-overdrive.php
D8 looks suspicious, but it tests ok as a diode (I did not thoroughly test the zener properties).  [EDIT: it doesn't physically look suspicious- only while looking at the schematic.]

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

If the zener works, maybe the resistor is the busted one... :icon_biggrin:

How old is it?  Didn't some early Boss pedals have LEDs that only flashed when you engaged the effect?

If not that, a weak battery or zener not properly zenering.

What color is the bear?

If it is Polar-Bear white, its 4V plus a 6V Zener leaves nothing on the resistor, so no current.

Thanks for the replies.  I was able to look at it a little closer and I think I've found the issue.
In case this helps anyone in the future, I'll admit: it was a wrong power supply issue.

I usually use a 1Spot on my bench, I've never had a reason to question it.  On top of that, I've actually used it with 2 other OD-2's and it was fine.

Evidently, this particular pedal is of the "Boss ACA" variety.  The other 2 OD-2's I've had must not have been.
It has something to do with the ACA being unregulated while the 1Spot is regulated.  This is a good write up about it.

I have confirmed that it works with a battery, and I think it will work with a regulated 12 volt supply as well.  I am opting instead to modify it as explained here.

I'll report back any updates in case it will help someone in the future.

So I have completed the mod here.
More specifically, I replaced both D1 and R2 (on this particular pedal, OD-2) with jumpers.

Everything works great.  It's a very easy fix for anyone that runs into this problem.
