I am building a dual FX loop pedal to test pedals side by side. I'd like to have it so that if nothing is plugged into a send jack, it will be routed to the corresponding return jack.

Assuming I am understanding these jacks correctly... would all of them accomplish what I am after? Is there a benefit to one over the others? (Not going to be battery powered).

I can't make out ou how the second one switches, but the first one should do hat you want. The third one probably also but looks more complicated (and expensive).

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but.... usually we route signal to a Send jack +and+ to the switch on a Return jack. So if no return signal is plugged-in, it defaults to the Send signal.

That makes more sense! And If I ever use this as an A/B box it would sit better to have the SEND be the "output".
