Pentode/triode switch on pentaboost

Hey I'd like to add a pentode triode switch to this circuit:

Do I simply break off pin 2 from its 100k resistor to 12v, and just connect Pin2 to Pin1 plate? And what should I do with the 1uf cap connected to pin2, leave it there?

Rick does something similar in his "Craquement Thermionique" design (albeit with 5840s).  He appears to do exactly what you suggest: he disconnects from the R/C stack (which answers your last question) and connects to the plate.

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...

I tried this with an output pentode (ECL86). I can't see how to avoid a DC thump when switching. Can it be avoided?
