Series resistor order?

here after the ground resistor there is a resistor hanging in the air, it doesn't look right.

I wonder the reason for not asking about the same for 10k input resistance (right after IN jack tip..)

Putting the protection resistor last can be a good idea if the last thing in the circuit is the wiper of a volume pot. Pots can't handle much power dissipation and if it's turned close to 0ohm from wiper to ground then an accidental high voltage on the output jack will certainly burn it. A final series resistor can help reduce this danger.
