If I build a Tonebender MKII would I see more tonal flexability by making Q2 or Q3 the adjustable bias? I know I could do both but if I had to choose one, which would be more beneficial?

I used trimmers on Q2 collector and Q1 base, worked out well.  Germanium.  Pedal sold and I need to build another.

generally, Q3, but changing its bias also changes Q2's bias through the feedback loop

friendly reminder: all holes are positive and have negative weight, despite not being there.

I used Q3. The bias and volume controls are interactive now.

Build the circuit on a breadboard and try Q2 and Q3 separately and see which one you like best.

yes, that's to be expected, since you change the DC current but also the voltage divider made up of the bias control and the low value resistor.
