look towards 2N7000/BS170 or LND150 or Op Amp The time of J201 is gone, they are on a par with dinosaurs, such as germanium transistors. Any modern components get rid of a number of problems specific to J201 and other Jfets.
1) You don't have to spend time searching for TH
2) You don't need to use trimpots for offset
3) You will get more stable devices, without selection, J201 can vary greatly, both in terms of amplification factor and mixing requirement, and therefore have a different sound from pedal to pedal
