Question about custom AB pedal for cab switching

I'm looking for custom built AB pedal for cab switching (1 amp - 2 different cabs). Not amp switching, cab switching.

1 input jack (1/4") from amp, 2 output jacks (1/4") to cabs and a simple rotary switch to switch between the 2 output jacks. No LED required.

12 gauge wire internally (to match speaker cable) and a heavy duty rotary switch of "shorting" type - the switch leaves the current connection intact while switching to the new position, and then disconnects the current connect.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum can build something similar for me ?

I suggest you go to a hi-fi shop (although not *too* hi-fi!) and buy a speaker switching unit. It's a simple device - a switch in abox, basically. It lets you choose one set of speakers or the other, or sometimes both. It'd work for a guitar speaker as well as any other, and you'd probaly only use half of it, since guitar speakers are generally mono, whereas hi-fi is generally stereo.

I assume make before break so the amplifier is never un-loaded?

Heavy duty rotaries are getting rare. Heavy-duty toggles are still around. IF your amp can stand a 2X load for a split second, this odd affair works.

Hi - thanks for this suggestion! I looked around and saw some of these speaker switchers are meant for internally powered speakers and some are for unpowered ones. I would assume I would want the one for unpowered.

It might be simpler to just get a custom SPDT switch made with make/before/break. I'll reach out to some custom pedal makers on the 'net but does anyone here have any suggestions for custom builders with good reputations ?

Yes, make before break so it is never un-loaded. I'll put the amp on standby before switching cabs just to be safe but momentary 2X loads are absolutely fine too.

Could it be simpler and cheaper to just buy one?

I know Elliot has something on his site but it's probably more complicated than you need...

An update - found MBB (make before break) toggle switches at Kraus & Naimer and Carling Technologies.

These manufacturers don't have them easily searchable/findable on their websites but when I contacted their sales, both  were super responsive and helped me find a SPDT Toggle MBB switch with 10A rating. MBB switches + 10A rating was proving almost impossible to find, so I can highly recommend both of these companies.
