I can't imagine coming up with 10 preset settings for a big muff.

Is that Zen or have we reached peak meta? Anyway, the whole thing seems to me to be driven by the question "could we...?" rather than "should we...?". I may be a narrow minded Luddite, though.

Wow! A blue Les Paul - don't think I've seen one in that colour before - nice!

Personally I don't have a use for one, but I can see why they released it.   I've never found a distortion / fuzz that sounds as good as pedal in a DAW.

Does it need 10 presets for live use?  Doubtful, but why not....   At least they didn't go totally overboard and make it 100

Automating the BMP controls in a DAW - I think that's great.  Plenty of use for that.

I'm baffled by the platypus reference in the thread title. is it covered in the video [unviewed]?
I feel sick.

Platypus; sort of a mammal, but lays eggs.  The young have teeth, adults a tough bill. Tail like a beaver. Uses electolocation technology. Plus it is venomous.

Big Muff Hardware Plug in; its hardware, but it's a plug-in. It's analog, but digitally controlled. Not a hoax. O Brave new world....

No, they've already got one of them. Mind you, that would be a whole lot more useful and sensible to be able to remotely automate!  :icon_mrgreen:

I can't even imagine coming up with two...

I always thought the animal should rather be call the platbilled duckypus. Somehow that name captures the ridiculesness (or is ir ridiculiosity?) of this evolutionary oopsidaisy much better.

And if all you wanted was JUST a fuzz for your guitar to step on now and then, I agree.  The thing is that it is a great deal more than that.

I have one of these puppies (though I haven't used it in a shamefully long time): https://www.roland.com/ca/products/torcido/.  It can also be used "as is", though not stompable, as well as being programmable in a HUGE number of ways.  It was somewhere around $200 new, a half-dozen years ago.  Damn near impossible to find these days.

I can imagine the synth crowd might like that. And for studio use there is a lot value that it's stereo.

Maybe all the features combined it becomes somewhat ridiculous, but after you add the parameter automation, the presets can bee offered with very little eftra cost. And after adding avery handy possibility to route audio from your DAW through it without using your actual audio interface the possibility to use it as an audio interface is already there.

It's kind of an oddball, but hey... They are trying to add features and not just trying to sell some old variation of the same pedal all over again.

You should be asking "Firmware?". The hardware for that won't get you far. :icon_lol:

Maybe we are entering a new era of mods... I can imagine that tremolo or maybe harmonic tremolo could be added to the features by modding the firmware.

That isn't a platypus tail on the barbie is it?
Or beaver. Slowly dawning on me that platypus is like an Aussie beaver.
