That isn't a platypus tail on the barbie is it?
Or beaver. Slowly dawning on me that platypus is like an Aussie beaver.

Platypus is an Aussie beaver, beavers a big fluffy muffs, it all fits. I'm tellin' you it's a conspiracy! Uuaargghh
My dry, sweaty foot had become the source of one of the most disturbing cases of chemical-based crime within my home country.

A cider a day keeps the lobster away, bucko!

I live in the hometown of the delicacy called "beavertails".  It's a flat fried bread, served crispy and sweet, just like a good distortion should be.

Mark, you don't think you're gonna get away with that story and not show us the schematic for Mark Hammer's Beavertail Distortion, do you?  :icon_wink:

I'm diabetic.  Not allowed to eat them.  These days, trying to wrap my head around a Yamaha SY55 and Roland D-110 I recently bought for very modest fees.  But once they're mastered, I'll get on that Beavertail ASAP.  :icon_wink:

Platty is 2 to 5 pounds. Beaver is 25 to 65 pounds. Ten times more! Makes a big difference to a hungry hunter.

The places Platty likes, people like. Clear water on the east side of the continent. Of course people pollute the water and platties are getting scarce. Hard to be sure because they are very shy. Don't want to look too hard because they are venomous. IAC, they are legally protected, you don't eat them.

I don't see much about Platypus changing the land. In North America beavers once dominated the land. Their dams and ponds created ecosystems for many other animals, slowed erosion, stabilized the water table. Trapping decimated the beaver; they have rebounded well. Which sometimes annoys people. Near here a beaver dam washed-out. Minor problem for the beavers. Major problem for the town whose road washed-out. Other beavers drop trees across driveways and don't haul them out for days.

Beaver took up residence in the stream and ravine near us, about 150yds away.  Took down a LOT of trees, leaving what looked like a bunch of sharpened pencils sticking out along the edge of the stream.  City came and relocated the guy.  They are known to be aggressive at times, with the odd report of someone being chased by one.

. . . with the odd report of someone being chased by one.

I'm not surprised they chase you if you do this to them!
