If we believe that all amps are just collections of EQ, gain, EQ, gain, EQ, gain....

and their differences are mostly based on the type of EQ, the severity of the gain, and their placement in the audio chain

Then here is a web based Amp simulator that lets you dial in the interstage EQ and gains of the stages of a virtual amp.

I would say that you can fairly closely emulate any existing Amp just by playing with the EQ and gains of each stage.

EQ is a linear process so there is no change in order if this is true.  If the gain is non-linear, this makes a great difference where everything is placed.  Does the simulation allow for non-linear gain?  If not, you won't see much.

A linear process is one where if the input to the process is multiplied by X, the output is also multiplied by X and if you add input a to input b and put it through the system, the output is that of the output of the system to the input a added to the output of the system to the input of b.

This system is only useful if you go away from linearity in the amplifier stages.
