Cleaned pot shaft feels loose

I have a spray that is meant for cleaning contacts. I am not sure how much it is good for cleaning pots but when i use it on a pot, it cleans it perfectly, but the pot shaft gets loose. It then wiggles and can be pulled a bit up and down, just like if something that was holding it tight got dissolved. Do you have that experience?

Exactly. This generally means you used the wrong kind of cleaner or too much. If the cleaner is of the de-greasing/solvent variety, it will wash away not only dirt but lubrication. The shaft of a pot is lubricated so removing that will make it feel looser and usually less smooth. You can re-lubricate pots with appropriate products. It's best to use proper pot cleaners and use as little as possible so as to not get it in the shaft.

The pot shaft has bit of "friction grease" that sets the feel of the pot.
Some pots have less friction and feel lose and some are more stiff.
When the temperature warms or cools this will affect this also.
If you use one of those tubes to apply cleaner from the shaft side
as in a guitar, you'll wash away the grease and leave the pot feeling
too loose. And also posssible not cleaning the pot at all.
Using to much cleaner will also possibly wash away the grease.
Use just a bit of cleaner sprayed in the slot where the wiper is.
Spraying cleaner first followed by a lubrication after working the pot
a bit will keep it clean and smooth longer.
Electronics cleaner followed by Caig Fader Lube is what I use.
