I've been tinkering with the Devils triangle drone synth and really like it.

You could look up RC phase shift oscillators, pretty easy with BJTs or what have you

There is a 'relaxation oscillator' made by reversing a BJT and cutting the base off, and UJT circuits that do this as well (very simple).
