Headphone amp

Hello everybody,
I've been working on a custom pre amp project. The pre amp works as expected, but i wan to add a headphone output for guitar practice.

I need to take the preamp signal and drive it through a headphone amp circuit.
I've tried the mxr headphone amp, but it didn't worked as expected.
I also tried the LM386 headphone schematic, which also didn't like at all.

Any suggestions on schematics or proper op amps for headphones?

Years ago i made of bunch of "cmoys" and similar circuits, worked great with the lineouts from various discmans and other hifi components.Simple low part count circuits, one sometimes two ic's involved.

The TDA1308 chip is designed to be a headphone amp. Maybe worth looking at it for your application.
It is an SMT chip but you can get prebuilt modules using it very cheap.

Thanks to all, but still didn't manage to get somewhere.
I built a demo circuit using TDA2030, but i get to much oscillation, plus it got a massive power consumption. It's got a great amount of power though.

I tried the JRC4580, but no result. Maybe it needs better biasing.
I also tried a 5532 with no results.

I am almost desperate, i've been trying for more than 2 months with different ICs, but still can't get a descent result.

What is wrong with your results?  Not enough gain? Distortion?

It's got a great amount of power though.

Please don't put 14W in your headphones.
What are you supplying it with? Or more generally, what are your power options?
There are plenty of appropriate op amps but it gets better with bipolar PSUs. Maybe the aforementioned TDA1308 is better suited if you have 5V handy (e.g. wear it with a small power bank).
Any caveats like high impedance phones?

Use the deadastronaut ASTRO cab sim (which has an integrated headphone out) and thank me later.

Wasn't aware of that board by deadastronaut, interesting!
The headphone part, looks along the lines of the CMOY headphone amp using an opamp section for left and one for the righr channel. Not every opamp can supply enough current though, the tl0xx range is pretty bad, but 5532 is often used or one of the opa series (not a whole lot more output current than tl072 though)

You could nip just the headphone portion, but I do recommend just building the whole thing - then you can plug pedals in directly and it's like having a cab sim, because it is a cab sim    I made one and am very happy with it!

Hi,
I'm killing time at an airport, so I can't provide links or images right now.
But do use the search function. I posted sn schematic a few years ago.
It used a pair of JRC4556 opamps. They are super cheap, clean, and provide up to 70mA of per side. It was based on the O2 headphone amp.
