I made an Instagram page with some free graphics for your pedal decals, or your web site, or even stickers.

Free to use with your pedals!

Instagram only likes square images, and many are in a vertical orientation so all of the image may not be visible.

Post pictures in this thread of pedals that use any of the graphics, and Have Fun with them!

Best regards, Jack

ps: if you do not know how to download the images, or cannot find an IG downloader web site, send me a DM to request any image.

I will be updating with new graphics as I get time, so check back on the site to see if there are new images!

Getting good images is difficult even under the best of circumstances. The program can generate text, but making the correct text is a roll of the dice. I estimate that you only get 1 usable image out of every 8 or 10 that are generated, and sometimes less than that.

These are frikkin' balls, Jack! I've been having some fun with AI image generators for artwork the last few months.

Thanks, Brian. I look forward to seeing your pedals with some of the graphics on them!

AI image generation is a lot of fun, but it can also be challenging at times, especially when there is text included in the image.

I wonder what program is that can generate actual texts.

I have Adobe Cloud license, and Firefly is quite good with generating overall images, but it sucks when it comes to text generation. I've already made 3 pedal artworks with its help.

However, if they are somehow vector based or on PSD form, those typos can be easily fixed.

I have used Leonardo, Dall-e and even a tiny bit with the Adobe program. They all have a problem with text, which is hard to understand. They should be able to at least spell the text correctly because it is in the prompt in quotes and could be parsed out for use. This is not the case, and the text is often spelled incorrectly or mangled in some manner in most of the images.

The Midjourney images are rendered at 1024x1024 pixels, which is good enough for most pedals if used at 300dpi. Even though they are raster images, some editing is easy to do. Probably 10% of the images I have posted have been edited in some manner. Usually it is a small thing like cutting out tiny duplicate text or removing a stray graphic element. I find that every image from Midjourney can benefit from mild brightness/contrast adjustment and maybe a bit of sharpening.

Thanks for commenting!

Corel Draw ? It is a big program and I find a little "hard" to use.

I bought a bundle of Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 2024 for $75 last December. The Elements versions are missing some of the more recent innovations of the programs but have more than enough if you are not a graphics pro. No monthly subscription fees. It is offered on sale a few times per year.

The Affinity programs from Serif also deserve a mention here as well. I have Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo and they are quite capable.

Does anyone have experience using a Cricut to trim decals and labels for pedals? I might buy one if it is good for this use.

Thanks, Jack

Suggest some pedal buzz words that I might use for graphics.

Thanks, Jack

Thanks for posting!  That is a great selection of pedal graphics.

Did you use AI as the starting point for the designs?

Hi Jack,

For earlier ones like Bassy Balls, Kidney Stone, and Muffin, I found some vector designs (as you can see from their simplicity :)), afterward I discovered and tried working with Firefly(AI of Adobe), and with some tinkering on PS and Illustrator, I've gotten these designs thus far, and I'm pretty happy with it.

I mostly go with the Image option, not Photo on Firefly. After having something solid that I can work on, I download that image and open it on PS and remove/add elements here and there with the Auto Refill option, refill/remove areas that are in or out within sticker boundaries (export format is 4:3 or 16:9 in Firefly, and as we, pedal makers, mostly work in a ratio of 1:2 or something "long" for pedals such as 40x80, etc, I need some refill on top and/or bottom sides, and PS is pretty accurate to refill/complete the missing areas according to the rest of the image (top side of Sloth and Choralis, i.e)

Then I prepare the enclosure in Tinkercad, export the top side as a .svg file where the holes are located, so that I have the holes and distances between them precisely as a 2D file, open it on Illustrator, also export the finalized image from PS and merge everything there.

Then I 3D print the enclosure; it's cheap, lightweight, design-wise flexible yet durable af. And I paint it with the closest color possible matching the color around the design (as a scale modeler, I got s.itload of paints lol). I always leave 1-2mm's of margin on the sticker design, so that corners and edges won't peel up in time and there'll be enough space for color gradient between the label and enclosure. Say enclosure is 45x75mm, I arrange the sticker dimensions as 43x73mm; same goes for pot and switch holes as well, they stay under the nuts anyway, so there's not any ugly scene going on.

After getting printed digitally and pre-cut the labels at a friend of mine on a print house, I stick it over the painted & varnished enclosure, and voila!

Great ideas! Thanks for sharing your process!

I have used the Adobe AI on occasion but I do not like it as much as Leonardo or Midjourney.

I Will also give them a try, I actually needed an Ai that can generate proper texts. Are they freeware?

Wait a second, you're Jack Orman, right?!

Pardon my ignorance, It's a pleasure to meet you, sir! :icon_redface:
