I'm getting an error message on Linux, win and iOS - server can't be found.
When trying to access the forum.

Weirdly, I can connect via this iPad but not my phone or any pc/mac

Anyone else having issues?

No, seems OK. Running Win10 with Firefox. Server seems nice and fast.

Strange. This iPad connects,

Win 10 edge my network - fail (2 PC's)
Win 10 chrome my network - fail
Debian chromium my network - fail
Ubuntu 14 Firefox my network - works
MacOS Catalina my network - fail

So, can't be my network as 2 devices work ok.
But...
iPhone on my network -fail
iPhone on cellular - works
iPhone on different network - fail

Tried installing Firefox on win 10 no joy

That is really strange. Can you try and remove all cookies/data from the browser for this site?

stallik

I've tried clearing everything on 2 devices but to no avail.

The fact that my phone works on cell but not network made me think it couldn't be a cache issue so perhaps the server didn't like my IP. That theory failed because I've got 2 devices on the same network which will work.

Everything was working till about 24hrs ago but I can't think of anything I've changed at my end

As you say - weird

24 hours ago, the IP addresses for the name servers DNS were changed.

Can you send me your IP via messaging and I can ask the hosting company.

stallik

I've changed my router dns settings to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (google public dns) and all devices now connect

As you found: when a site "moves" to another host, another IP number, it takes time for the change to propagate to all the DNS servers in the world (at least the ones you touch); and each O/S has slightly different procedures and timings for caching old DNS look-ups.

Back in the old days when I practically slept with servers (don't ask) there were tricks to expire DNS caches quicker. But they were not trivial and Aron wisely doesn't get so hands-on with his hosts.

YES, the forum is showing much more traffic today than it has in many days.

And the reason why I had 2 devices which connected using a network whos dns had not yet updated was that they were both directed via my piHole ad filter using a different dns. All makes sense now, not weird at all

Thanks
