Boss PH-1R --- TOO BRIGHT!

I went ahead and installed the Parasite true bypass retrofit board.  I chose this retrofit board since it was very  very small easy to fit.  This allowed a point separate from the flip-flop circuit to insert a 50k trimpot to ground between the main board circuit ouput and the return pad of the Parasite.  A little bit of back-and-forth tweaking and the perceived volume is now pretty much the same in bypass or engaged to my ears. 

This is combination with the previously described 47nf in parallel with R9 got the spikeyness and saturation/volume boost I was hearing nicely under control and sweetned up the sound.  Subtly but noticeably.  I would say this is as good as it'll get to me and I am completely satisfied!  Thanks for the help everyone, and I hope this thread can help anyone that runs into this issue with the PH-1R in the future!
