What's up with Tayda? They cancelled my order that I made 5 weeks ago

On Aug 11th I made an order with Tayda - today (Sep 19th) they sent me and email that my order was cancelled and my money will be refunded next week.

No reason given - I have reached out and am waiting to hear a response.

You didn't happen to change your credit card since the last time you ordered from them, did you?

No, I paid via PayPal on Aug 11th, and PayPal is processing a refund today (Sept 19th) - I have been ordering from Tayda since 2012 and have never had an issue. When I look at my order history I have the option of re-ordering the cancelled order. I guess I'll just have to wait until they get back to me to figure what went wrong.

Well I hope it's an issue unique to you, and not a broader organizational thing.  I was all set to put in a big order.

I have ordered two orders from tayda in the last month, no issues at all.   Just ordered 20 powder coated enclosures and a few others odds and ends on the 9th, arrived on the 16th.  30th I ordered a few enclosures and a bunch of caps resistors knobs switches etc.   Also took about a week.

I guess it's good that it is an isolated thing - still waiting to hear back from them.

Not so isolated. I placed two orders in September, using two different accounts, and both were cancelled and refunded.

I did reach out to them on one order, and received the following reply;

Still waiting for a reply on the other order. Don't think it's an issue with DHL, I have boards coming from China with DHL, and I just got the shipped notice yesterday. Maybe Canada is on some sort of blacklist now? Just don't get it.

Did you select one of those DHL "special price" things, where there are no brokerage fees?  Maybe that's it.

Yes I did. It still ships via DHL regardless, but I found that for a $175 USD order, they're asking for $30 USD for the pre-paid fees option. I've made $200 orders in the past using the cheap option, and DHL fees have never surpassed $25 CAD on my end, so obviously, they're making a few bucks on the side. If they're cancelling just because of that, then they are shitballs.

As an experiment, I'm going to place the order again, but this time I'll take the pre-paid fees option, and see what happens. I must admit though, I've had an issue with them in the past regarding shipping, which was an error on their part, and my order ended up going back to them, and they then charged me shipping again to get it. I was pretty steamed. Their communication is sketchy at best. I've never had the warm and fuzzies with Tayda.

Well, my assumption is correct. Take the cheap option, and they cancel your order. Take the prepaid option, and...

Would not surprise me if it gets cancelled, with "Thai Post cannot ship to that region at the moment" excuse.

I screwed up my order - I order some pre-drilled enclosures and forgot to connect the job order to my enclosures. Tayda never contacted me to let me know I had not completed my order and simply cancelled my order after a few weeks had passed. I reordered and it's all good now.
