Okay...
I just reassembled the pedal put it back in my board.

It works perfectly! I don't know why, or what changed, but it sounds great.

Thank you to all that helped with advice as I learned a lot during the trouble shooting.

I'll clarify. By fixed I just mean the switch click on is much less pronounced than it was.
