Tube Screamer 808 won't power on with battery

Hello,
The device powers on with a direct 9V supply from a 120V outlet through an adapter.

The battery has been tested and is functioning well, showing 10V.

It's a through-hole PCB style build.

Someone previously suggested that the power jack might be corroded.

I've tried cleaning the power jack and both 1/4-inch jacks with contact cleaner, inserting and removing the plugs to see if that would help, but had no luck. I also attempted to get it to turn on, even briefly, while manipulating the jacks, but still no success.

I tested for continuity from the battery clip negative to the input jack and got a signal. I also tested from the battery clip positive to the power jack and received a signal. However, I don't get any signal from the battery clip negative to the power jack, even with the 1/4-inch cables plugged into the in and out jacks. This seems a bit odd to me.
Any help is appreciated!

Have you got a cable into the input? It's probably wired to disconnect the battery if you pull the input lead out. That would explain no continuity - there won't be unless there's a lead in the input.

I tend to believe that there is no continuity  between the 2 positive lugs of power jack switch when power plug is out..

Welcome to the forum!

A common failure mode for an input jack is to have a switched contact that is bent enough that it never makes contact.  The input jack is used to switch power off when the signal plug is not in and it may not switch on as intended when the signal plug is in.  Check if you can see the shorting tab on the plug actually make contact.

Ah, so they do. My apologies. And a belated welcome!
