Has anyone succesfully built the Kay Trem @ GGG?

hello~
i've made/populated 2 boards from the GGG layout. and both have failed... has anyone gotten this one working using the GGG layout/board?

i am starting to think there might be a schem/layout error, i have tinkered with it alot, changing resistance, tranny's etc.
if anyone has any experience with this one, i would love to hear from you...

After years of having it on my site, it's on my short list to build one.  IIRC, there have been several people who have built it successfully from the layout on the site.

What do you mean by "failed"?  No sound at all, or no choppy trem?

i get a signal, but no choppy trem... and if i swap tranny's 2n5089, to tin can 2n2222's the "fuzz" goes away, but still no trem at all...

i have built it exactly to specs... and tried changing the 33ohm resistor that goes to the speed pot... but nothing! i

this morning i checked the layout to the shem, and it looks ok too...
now i am pondering trying different pot values...

the reason i keep playing with this circuit is because i really could use a "choppy" tremelo  effect... the trem built into my twin, and my voodoo labs trem get burried in our stage mix sometimes... plus i've put the time in to etch 2 different boards... i must have choppy trem!!!!

looking in the archive, there seems to be succesful builds, just not sure from which schemmo...

the archives shoe that the 33ohm resistor that goes to the pot "was" shown as 33k...so i tried that switch, but no trem.... i don't have much experience with modulation circuits... i've mostly only built "uzz/dist. circuits...

I've built a couple from the schematic, and would not really call it a "choppy" trem.

You might want to try the EH Pulsar circuit. It has a hard/soft switch. I have not looked, but perhaps there is something in that circuit that could be used on the Kay for  chopping?

Dano Tuna Melts are available cheap, and they have a pretty good choppy sound.

It does work,I built it a couple of years ago and still have it.I don't use it as much but found its really usefull with the depth mod.You get a more versitile pedal.I do think it eats batteries pretty quick.

I built a few on perf from the schematic a long time ago. The first one used the same transistors as stated in the schematic. The others used PN2222As.

It worked well and I added a depth control along with some other mods mainly for tweaking the speed range.
