How much do capacitor voltage ratings matter?

I forgot to order a particular capacitor when ordering parts.  The project calls for 16V min. rated capacitors.  I can get the size cap. that I need at a local supplier, but the voltage rating is 1kV.  Is there a point where too high a voltage rating will cause a problem or will this one work?

I hate to place an online order and pay the s&h for a single capacitor.

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, you don't need to worry about maximum voltage, except for the physical size of the device. If you're talking about a ceramic cap (which at 1kV, I have to imagine you are) then it will probably not be an issue, but film caps can get big in a hurry!
