Tested a 54V Obsidian circuit. The "oddity" is that the distortion level was about the same as 9V. I originally left room for 5 stages on the breadboard, but only used three. At 6X voltage, I expected a lot of extra headroom, but it didn't work that way at all.

It didn't seem better enough to warrant the 54v power supply, for sure. So I guess the 54V Obsidian project ended as soon as it began :)

I'm sure it would have caught on like wildfire.

I am also sure that if I had attempted to build it, it would have caught on fire like wild.

Oh, and I finally did get a Blackfire up and running. Great sounding circuit, Joe, and thanks for your help with it!

Joe, it looks like Vishay has 2 different BS250's.  Which are you using, or some other brand?   8)

These are 60v/250mA parts from mouser... $1.14/ea compared to $0.25 for the BS170... ouch, good thing you only need 3. :)
