Hmmm, if anyone finds a nice combination, please post it up here!  8)

What is this, exactly?  The musictoyz link is broken..

Tried this in the simplest of Op-Amp OD pedals.

Circuit is as follows...

TL071 Op-Amp

Input through 0.04uF cap with 5K6 resistor in series to pin 2.
Vref (2 x 33K voltage divider) to pin 3.
Ground pin 4.
9v to pin 7.
1Meg pot feedback from pin 6 to pin 2.
Output from pin 6 through .1uF cap.
Usual suspects of Si diodes between output and ground.

This is my 'polite' overdrive.

Just tried piggy-backing a 741 with the TL071 - and it really takes off - without being 'muddy'.

I can see some intricate soldering coming up...

It's all about stacking 2 opamps on top of each other so they run in parallel.  Check out the screamer lab project to see another way it can be done - though I think the bent pins are unnecessary unless you just want to switch them in and out of the circuit.

It really is as simple as that.  It's like 'LEGO' with Op-Amps.  Check your datasheets to see if the two Op-Amps share the same pin-outs, make sure you stack the top chip the right way round, and try it.

With the pins of the top Op-Amp facing straight down, you should be able to 'clip' it on.  Makes for easy testing without needing to solder.

What if I used a quad op-amp instead of 2 stacked dual....what I get the same benefits?
Doesn't look as cool.......but I usually don't have my parts showing anyways!  :icon_rolleyes:
