done the fender blender : sounds buzzy and BASSY.... :) gotta listen carfully before judging it :)  stupid me....

done the RM Octavia...less BASS, more on the treble range....gonna do some mods (resistor) and change?? the 1N4148 to 1N60 Ge.... maybe harsher??

next (and probably last), the tycho: gonna search for a transformer first.:)

foxx tone machine?? maybe next year....  tired of makin PCB...takes a lot o time... got no Press n Peel here....:)

thats my octave list....for now

I've built the RM (transformerless) Octavia, the Anderton Octave Fuzz, the old Elektor octave-doubling fuzz, the Green Ringer, the Foxx Tone Machine, and I have Tim escobedo's Oct-Up 80% ready to go.  Far prefer the Foxx of anything in that category by a wide margin.  Very nicely pronounced octave; where others seem to have an octavish flavour in the tone, this one feels like a second instrument to me.

Thanks for the input Mark

maybe Ill do them both

if only PCB making was that fast....takes me 2 Hours(for the fender blender) from design to finished.... whewwww....

anyways, both them (tycho and foxx) would probably be my last octaves.... :)

Just a suggestion, build the Time Escobedo's Digital Octave Up. I built it yesterday and got a cool octave up, very simple to build and have only one IC and a few parts.

Hello  again,

BTW, what did Jimi REALLY use??  the tycho or the RM??

I'm about to build the Foxx Tone Machine!  It's my first try at a "hard" pedal...

Out of interest, what does the octave up sound like? Is it buzzy or does it have a singing quality to it?

I've been messing around with sawtooths (true sawtooth, not triangle) an octave up and like the sound, I was just wondering what square waves sound like that high up (haven't had much time to do anymore experimenting, so any feedback would be appreciated).

The octave is buzzy, but with a lot of presence. Very similar to a Jawari if you use a distortion before it, but less buzzy. I think the sound became square wave.

That's what I thought, thanks for the feedback Marcos!
