fl-301 works?

Any help on the fl301 - tonepad project? Checked all the traces. All the i.c.s are 12v. at their rails etc (used tl-082's & 72's subbed for the 022's). I got lfo voltages ramping. All the trim pots seem to adjust levels at certain spots. I only get a straight signal out? And if I touch two ends of the pots together it makes a nice tremolo.
Any help appreciated, Jose

Same result here,I guess we have to wait for more knowledgeable people to look into it.
Probaby won't make a diference but did you try TL062s.

No didn't try them. Kind of a drag it won't work. Did anyone build this succesfully yet? I stewed over this biatch for a while and can't get it working. Maybe I'll perfboard a Morley Saphire. Jose

  tsk very bad....

hello guys...

have you made a schematic diagram out of it?? post it here so maybe we could debug it....

btw, have you tried other flanger diagrams other than that ibañez flanger??

have u seen John Holiis design for his ultra flanger??

thats my flanger.... but i had to redesign it (about 50%) of it 'caus doesnt work ?!?! i think the ramp section doesnt work and some resistor and cap values have to be changed at the CD4046 circuit....

iLL post my diagram as soon as i finish it..... WHEW...MANY COMPONENTS/PARTS.... and i had to do it in E Workbench....dunno how to convert to a picture file...hard time "printscreening" it cause the diagram wont fit on the screen......

I've added the schematic to the project page.

This project was built succesfully, at least once.

Bill, maybe it would be nice to do a build report to post at Tonepad if not a PITA for you since yours is the only successful build of the 301 and by now I know of at least 3 people qith similar bad results ie: straight signal with slight ,very slight, chorusing or tremolo.
Thanks

I'm curious too, I just made the PCB and I have to order the BBD's at Small Bear.

Bill, did you used the TL022 opamp, or did you also subbed them for TL062/72/82?

Thanks for your help.

Actually both the John Hollis and Ibanez 301 work.  I'll have to open up the 301 tonight and see what I used.

Thanks Bill, I plan on building it also.  Actually I never have used a flanger, but I heard of a lot of people who have and like them.

I used TL062's. Did you guys use non-polar caps for C109,C112 and C114?

Aharon

I used nonpolar caps,yes.

hmmmm.... don't know what could be wrong. If you get it going. you got to try it on 9v insteaded of 18v. You get a cool rubbery reverb sound.

I just went thru the schematic/layout and they match perfectly (to my eyes, at least), without the FET switching, of course.

I also checked the parts list and it all seems OK.

It would be nice to have an extra pair of eyes confirm this though.

I used n.p. caps too. The layout matched the schematic real nice Francesco. That's why I tried it. I guess the tranny's are the next question, I think I used ones with gains 300 - 350. I don't have data sheets for the tranny's on the original schematic so I used ones in that range, and that's probably crucial. Jose

Joep

You may be right about that. Q107 is a double transistor. You can find the datsheet here. The Hfe of both transistors are closely matched as you can see in the datasheet. It may be necessairy to use matched transistors. Hfe can be within the 250-800 range.

Q107 are the two transistors between R144 and R146.

@bill

for the ultraflanger, havent you tried changing parts especially the 4046 circuit?? just wondering....

i dunno but 22pF for the timing cap(4046 circuit) is think way to small a value... i used (.001uF and 3.3M) for FLANGING effect and (.0082 and 51K) for chorus effect.....

how about the ramp gen?

I used 2N5088s and did not match the hfe.
Maybe 2N5089s and matched hfe would work, at around 500?.
