Hi there,

This is regarding with Doug's Hot Silicon. The gain pot is not working as if it is at full all the time.

Check this out:  http://www.diystompboxes.com/sboxforum/viewtopic.php?t=17202

Thanks.

Oh yeah!

Check for solder bridges on any of the traces that connect to the gain pot. Use a meter to check resistance from the center lug to the outside lugs. As you turn the pot, the resistance on either side should increase or decrease, depending. But if one side stays at close to 0 ohms no matter how you turn it, then you have a short somewhere.

Somewhere you made a soldering, wiring, or layout mistake. The fat control has no effect on the gain control. The gain control works fine in both modes. I can't read your pcb file, so I have no way of verifying the layout.

I'm so sorry for bugging everyone :? . The gain pot is now working. I don't know what I did , it just worked. But I swear, before it's not working. Twice, while in the breadboard and in the PCB.

What made me feel that there might be something wrong with the schem is that another one from here had the same problem. We used different layout.

I feel so stupid bugging this forum for a problem that suddenly fixed itself.

Some sort of abra cadabra or gain pot open sesame   ? I don't think so.

Still, I wanna thank everyone for bearing with my "problem that never was".

To Bill_F, I really have no idea why the gain pot of our build before didn't work. Feel free to use the layout I posted to double check yours.

Don't worry about it... :D  We all get attacked by "gremlins" now and then.

Glad you got it fixed, hope you enjoy it! :D
