It's a new year and time for another nasty bench photo thread. I got a new camera for Christmas so I'll start...

Bah! Take that, times it by four, and you got my workshop. My other workshop is even bigger and messier. Actually its funny you brought this up as I'm in the middle if cleaning up my workshop again. I'll take some pics when I'm done.

Doug, that's fairly bad.  But surely you have more gear than that.  I especially like the analogue multi-meter.  That shows a deep and true dislike of digital!

Haha! I am -way- behind on giving it a cleanup and I thought it made a funny picture. I've got 2 breadboards going, something on a perfboard, and I'm finishing up a tweak to the amp (that's the firefly). This is in my garage apt and my wife and I are getting ready to redo it (you think this is bad you should see the -rest- of the room...). Anyway, I'm obviously in desperate need of some shelving and storage so that will be one of the first things we add.

Yeah, I've still got an analog meter but there's a DVM in there too. It's just buried beneath the clutter. That's basically it for test equipment for me. Of course there's a whole floor full of pedals, plus cardboard boxes full of them, my amps, cabinet, guitars, etc... Didn't get all that in the photo. Note the tube tray on the bottom shelf. I'll take a good close-up of that sometime and you can start drooling... :D  :D  :D

Jack, your floor looks like mine. :D

I like your drill press. I'm getting ready to buy a little hobby drill press, but I'll have to rent a bulldozer and clear some space first. :D

And my parts bins that are now on top of the desk:

And my little tool organizer:

It still looks pretty neat. Haven't had much time to do anything with a newborn and a two year old...

Ansil

paul i envy your neatness.

Paul. You must be married as well. I used to have a very nice self respecting mess like all free men should be allowed--until--The Wife! NO more mess--it was a cluttered, organized, dream.

The drawer of my workbench where I keep the majority of my builds.  Not a recent photo, so some boxes hold different circuits now.

That's more like it! :D

Actually I cleaned mine up last night. Took an hour and got about halfway through. (sigh...) Had to make room for my new soldering station.

Yes, I am married, but if I weren't , it would still look that way. I know, I give all the rest of you guys a bad name...

I actually decided to do this now that my two year old is getting into everything, and I have a newborn that will be walking and crawling before I know it. My wife did get tired of pulling little pieces of solder and wire strippings out of my daughters mouth all the time. I would always miss one or two little things on the floor (what used to be my workbench). Of course, as soon as my daughter walks in the room, the first things she sees is the tiny spec of something on the floor that I missed at 1:00 am in the morning. At least I don't have to put everything back into my closet when I am done anymore... thank goodness.

I had a room that could compete with the best of ya! But I had to go and read Erik Miller's law of 5

Ever since I've started to do that everything is now clean. Go figure!

Oh by the way, thanks Erik. That was one of the most helpful things I've read in a long time. So easy to apply, yet what a difference it has made. It's kind of weird to actually be able to find things right away.  :D
Hey, one day maybe I'll be like you Paul!

That's one of my biggest reasons for being organized: I hate looking for things! If I put something back in the same spot everytime, I never have to go looking for it. And waste time in the process.

I will be packing my equipment up tonight  , making room for textbooks and coffee mug. I am a junior at Penn State working toward a B.S. in electro-mechanical engineering technology, and as the semester approaches full speed I am feeling the need to put away my toys.(I'll still be HERE every day) On the other hand, the mess at the computer desk, it's a chronic one!
