man, just finished my colorsound overdriver in time for a gig last night.... what a great pedal! it's my favorite build so far. i can't believe it can be so clean, yet so fuzzy at the slightest turn of a dial. the fuzz comes on suddenly at about 3 o'clock, and gets really groovy from there.....super low-end also. can anyone explain how it does that?
3/4 of the gain is clean boost, but the last quarter goes over-the-top fuzz. i understand this is normal for the design, but why does it act that way? i'm pleasantly surprised! thanks for the tips.    jon

I haven't tried that one.
More than likely it is the taper of the pot.
There's ways to smooth that out...I never worried about it too much...I had one that was really touchy right in the sweet spot of the gain that almost bothered me for a minute...some of these knobs are more finicky about which taper
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

thanks, pete....i guess it could be the pot taper. it seems to come on all at once, like there is a threshold or something. i'm with you, i like it! i especially like the clean boost of the effect, which i wasn't expecting. i got lots of complements on the sound after my gig.   thanks again,  jon

Hi,

i finished one some month ago. A great Booster..
With the Resistor, that goes parallel with the Gainpot to ground (that 6.8K), you
can make a variable Gainresponse, from Fuzzing up at the End of the
gain to slight Fuzz from about 9 o clock.

Its good to add some Bass and or hights into the Boosted Sound.
And you are right, it works so well with the Guitarvolume.

If you want a murderous Distortion, try to add two Clipping diodes
from just before the 0.01uF Cap at the Treble Pot Side to ground..
Just no Cleansound possible, but a big distortion!!
