Germanium fuzzface.  SO frustrating...the distortion is excellent but basically unusable (due to treble loss, noise, etc).

2nd worst = Tycobrahe octave.  Too whacked out for my taste.  (ie too much toneless noise).  I much prefer the RM octavia.

Jeez, my TB Octavia I think is my favorite pedal I've built...

I don't know about worst ever, but I just finished up an E-H Pulsar that has me very underwhelmed.

Oh and my beginner project Electra Disortion wasn't anything to write home about either.

All-time worst setup: my band (very heavy music) had a guitarist playing a Fender Stage 1x12 combo fed by a Boss Super Feedbacker before we could afford decent gear. Ouch.

When I was about 14, I bought a 'Denio' flanger. It was a direct rip off of the purple boss one. It had the most subtle flange (ie, you could barely hear it). It didnt flange the notes- it solely provided a bashground 'woosh'. It always sounded different (although never good) everytime I turned it used it, even with the same settings. The quiet, 'background flange' would only slowly fade in a few seconds after the button was pressed- no, let me re-phrase that- only APPEARED a few seconds after the button was pressed. It NEVER sounded musical. One day, about a year later, it died. I now use some of its resistors when I need one, and they are always good. On the bright side, I just discovered when looking at the circiut board, it was three JRC 5448DDs- I may try these in a TS clone one day soon.
Other than that, it has absoututely no saving grace, and it cost $135- quite a bit when I got payed $9 a week doing pamphlet deliveries in the hot sun (it took 3 hours to make that $9, and it was hot, hard work as I was in Centeral Queensland at the time- temps up to 40 degrees celcius.
If I ever found the guy who built it, I would deck him
every other pedal has been a joy though.
Take care,
cheers,
Luke

I think the worst effect I have ever bought was a morley wah, but it really wasn't all that bad, it's just the worst i've ever had.  Took a while to get used to the switching, and until I went in and modified the LDR setup i didn't get a good sweep (my first mod ever!)

Hmmm, well the worst had to be what some consider a 'classic', a roland BeeBaa, the treble booster part wasn't bad in it, but the fuzz was kinda nasaly sounding, wish I still had it though, it did have a nice stainless steel enclosure I could use for other projects.. :D

With all the dozen's of blues songs that start "Gonna get up in the morning" , its a fact that blues musicians are apparently the only ones that actually get up in the MORNING...

When I was a lad I got a Maxon Treble Booster for Xmas.  After Playing with it for half an hour I got a severe headache and really sore ears.  It didn't get much use after that!

lol.  I bought a Denio Super Overdrive about 7 years ago.  I dug it out recently and found it actually sounds pretty good!  Lucky I didn't buy the Flanger I guess.

Well, maybe the MXR bluebox... not a bad pedal, but I play jazz...

I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Morley Power Wah Fuzz.

Poor tone on the wah, and poor tone on the fuzz. :?

Besides the ultra cheap "Wow wow" (instead of wah-wah). The worst credible pedal was a Boss Super Feedbacker. Good toy for about 30 minutes but never used it! Another failed purchase.

Hi,

my worst pedal circuit where the SmashDrive.... and out of this
the Grace Overdrive.
The Grace was much better than the SmashDrive, but overall the tone
sounded like plastic.

Boss ch-1 chorus and cs-3 sustainer. Both combine very little effect with questionable tone. The box is great, though. ;)

I'll add another vote for an old Morley wah... the thing was just awful..
the sound was bad, and the foot-action was worse.. to open it up all the way, I had to point my foot DOWN beyond a flat position.. very comfortable to play like that.

Has to be the Arion flanger. That thing was so noisy it was ridiculous. It could make some neat spaceship FX type noises, but wasn't really very useful musically...

casey

i would have to say the electro-harmonix big muff.  it sounded
just plain horrible.  it was the new york one too.  i modified it
as suggested on the diy fx sites and it still sounded horrible.

it was so Muff-led and buzzy.  it was surprising cause everyone
raves over that pedal as being one of the classics.....

Maybe it should be called the "Morely Poor Wah Fuzz"?? :D

Mine are the DOD graphic EQ and Octaplus. Both are tone-suckers when you turn them off (what good is that for an EQ?!?!?) and the octave tone bleeds through when the Octaplus is bypassed. Neither is too bad when switched on but man, they sure screwed up the bypass...
