Guys I don't think we have to worry about spammers here, do we? Or is some bastard having a spider crawl over all kinds of forums? :?
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

What about the switch that is in the keeley mod? Does that just change the clipping method?

yes. It incorporates led's.

my sister played guitar for a couple of years, quit, and left me her Metal Zone :-D.  I dont think that i would buy a thing like this, but its nice for _some_ stuff

It sounds very "digital" aka harsh, buzzy, etc.

So moral - how do these mods sound?!?

RDV

Listening to a Boss Metal Zone(& hating it) is what led me to develop the HMP.

Imported from another forum. Some friends of mine have a 'the Who' tribute band called 'the Wholigans'. //www.thewholigans.com They're on a 'tribute band' forum. They're pretty damn good. They tour on the continent a bit, but if you go see them take earplugs. Hiwatt amps on ten if you know what I mean!

I know it's really nothing new, but what do you think of the circuit(HMP) Ton? It has some rather unique characteristics compared to any other dirt box I've built or owned. It has this big rip-roaring fizzy sound, but hardly hums or feeds back(unless it's really cranked). I mean that the tone that it has, you would think there would be an 'out of control' element, but there's not. It's really well behaved. I'm mostly refering to the clipping sections. The parametric has not been extremely successful. It works...but I think I left out a buffer stage before it(trying to simplify) that may have been necessary for it to have a very dramatic sweep. I'm more player than EE(for certain), so I do a lot of guessing.

have only heard it thru my laptop yet;
have to download the sounds on other PC,
to send it thru some real speakers...
circuit looks good to me...

hello Arn C, can i have a copy of that schematic also ? thanks alot

In my opinion, indyguitarist's mod has more of an audible difference. It makes the mids EXCELLENT sounding, adding a nice crunch. Very 'brown sound.' Keeley's mod just makes it more transparent, much quieter, trims some highs, and note seperation is highly improved. My mod is also freakin' awesome too! I think I'll have some pics of my mod soon too for anyone interested. The topic which describes my mod is here... http://diystompboxes.com/sboxforum/viewtopic.php?p=195876#195876

does anyone have the detailed keeley mt-2 mods... ive searched the forum and found some... but not too sure whats goin on with whats listed... i bought brian's indy mod and tried the marchall mod but it turned my metal zone into a PISSED off Fuzz pedal i wanted to try the keeley mods but whats posted on  brians keeley suggestions arent  too clear... any help would be appreciated ... thnx in advance  if you have any mods to send my way send them to thguy316@yahoo.com

Just an opinion........but... if Brian has a kit for it... I would at least consider supporting him and buying the kit.   I have bought several of his kits and they are very well layed out.    Text, parts lists, annotated pictures...

And he doesn't ask an unreasonable price for them either.  About the price of a half decent 18 foot cord.  Just a thought.....

guitar_199>>>i purchased all of brians mods and i totally support the DIY community... but i found that brians metal zone mods turned my MT-2 into a PISSED off FUZZ pedal which is opposite of what i was looking for...  Brian throws in bits and pieces of the keeley mod when u purchase the MT-2 mod  but not so clearly... i hope u dont take this as an attack and if you do i appologize in advance....

as far as any mods??? ANYONE??? theguy316@yahoo.com

The mods do change the sound very much. They remove the honk of the pedal, but turn it into a fuzz. Changing clipping diodes changes the sound a lot!. I liked the sound of one LED and one SI, but if you leave in the two SI diodes it will be fuzzy, two LEDS makes it crunchier. I left out the 47 pf across the diodes because I like some of the high end shrill. But...they call them mods for a reason, they will change the sound A LOT.

Is anyone else having trouble finding some of the parts listed on the previous  page?  I've checked Mouser and Digikey and got nothing.  Has anyone had any luck sourcing these?
